The Grand Canal Museum is on the Northern Gongcheng bridge area in front of the Gongshu district official government building of Hangzhou city and covers an area of 10700 square meters.Besides, Gongcheng bridge has been the longest and highest arched stone bridge among all that in Hangzhou. The Grand Canal Museum was setted for collecting, protecting studing the culture and history of canals roundly. For the history reflects the cultural atmosphere and shows how we make full use of this canal. Half of its room has been used for exhibition fanning out around the cultural plaza. Filled with trendy elements, the museum was built in a style which contained bridges and boats on the rivers outside masterly and employed them as the natural exhibits on display. The opening ceremony was held on 1st October of 2006. Moreover,there are other places to visit along with the banks of canal such as the cultural plaza, the gathering scenes,the little river streets,the sword museum,the ancient umbrella museum. Xinyifang walk street is located in northern district of Hangzhou with the Moganshan road in the west and Hushu road in the east which is just near to the Grand Canal.
