Grand View Park sits on the northern shores of the Dian Lake. It consists of hills, ponds, pavilions and rockeries in a style similar to that of the gardens of the Yangtze River Delta. The Grand View Tower (Daguanlou) is a typical well-preserved wooden pagoda, offering a great view of Lake Dianchi.
The scenic area is divided into three parts according to different eras. The first area is Jinhuapu, traditional architecture; and the second is South Garden (Nan Yuan), a mixture of Chinese and western architecture; the last is the West Garden (Xi Yuan), landscape gardens modern times of Kunming.
If you travel this park with friends, three to four hours are enough. If you go for a date, 3 hours is adequate. On the Mid-Autumn festival, locals will gather in the park, appreciating the moon and sharing happiness.
