Erhai Lake is located in Dali; there are another tow names, "Xi'er Rier" and "Kunmi Stream". It is 1972 meters above the sea level, about 41.5 kilometers from south to north. Erhai Lake covers an aera about 251square kilometers. The shape of the lake is ear-like, hence the name "Erhai Lake" (Er means ear in Chinese). At the southern end of Erhai Lake, there is Mount Tuanshan, and Erhai Park is located here, it is suitable to watch Erhai Lake. When you overlook Erhai Lake, you will find that it is like a new moon which lies silently between Mount Cangshan and Dali Dam. Erhai Lake is formed from fault and collapse,and it is so clear that it is called “a stainless jade among mountains". It is said that there is a huge jade cabbage at the bottom of the sea, and every drop of water in Erhai Lake is the nectar of the cabbage.Erhai Lake is the mother lake of Bai Minority, and it is praised as “golden moon” by the ancestor of Bai Minority.
