The Sun Island lies on the north bank of the Songhua River, across which is the prosperous downtown Harbin. As a wetland park, it is a famed summer resort in the country. Wetland in the park covers about 2,000 hectares in total. There are also scores of other scenic spots, like the Sun Gate, the Russian-style town, the Squirrel Island, the Deer Park as well as waterfalls and beaches. Visitors can find culture-themed spots, like the Park of Sister Cities built by 15 overseas cities, and 10 pavilions including the Pavilion of Russian Art and the Pavilion of Northern Folk Art.
