Fubo Hill, which is situated to the west of Li River, is standing half on land and half on water. On the hill visitors can visit the Xinxi Marquis Temple built during Tang Dynasty, a 300-year old iron boiler which weighs more than 1000 kilograms and a large bell which weighs 2700 kilograms and was build in Qing Dynasty. It is said that the boiler can prepare enough food for one thousand people. On the southern slope of the hill visitors can find the Pearl-Returning Cave. Inside is the “Try the Sword” Rock. It is said that General Fubo has tested his sword by cutting a stone pillar and this therefore has left a crevice at the bottom ever since. At the end of the cave is the Thousand-Buddha Cave in which one can find 250 Buddhist statues and inscriptions of various periods. Most of the statues were made in Tang and Song Dynasty.

Best Time to Visit Fubo Hill
The beautiful mountains and clear water are at their best in summer and autumn (April to October), which are the best seasons to visit Guilin.
Fubo Hill Best Routes
1.There are three routes to the Fubo Hill peak:
The first one leads along the River, passes through the Xiuxi Corridor (Rest Corridor) and Fubo Corridor, where you can see the “Qianren Wok”. On the way you can visit the Jiming Teahouse and later the Dabei Acient Cave (Cave of Great Grief). At the end, the route passes near the Tingtao Pavilion (Pavilion to Listen to the Wave Sound).
The second route leads up the stairs along the west side of the Hill. The highlight of this route is a huge iron bell in the mountain pass. A series of flat steps above the Bell can be used to rest before the climb. Going up further, you can enjoy the beautiful view of half of the city from an observation deck near Banshan Pavilion. To reach the peak, follow the stone stairs.
Last but definitely not the least, tourists can choose to visit Huanzhu Cave (Returned Pearl Cave) and Shanhu Rock first, and then climb the the steps in the cave beside Shijian Stone to reach the top of the hill. This path will lead to Qianfo Rock, where hundreds of Buddha statues from Tang Dynasty are located.
2. For a more physically demanding route, start from the east. Walking through Fubo Corridor along the riverside you will reach the Tingtao Pavilion. The way from the Pavilion leads to the top of the hill, with Huanzhu Cave on the way. It is recommended to visit the cave on the way back – it will be a good place to rest after a climb.
3.Huanzhu Cave is the best part of Fubo Hill. Therefore the third route in “1” is the preferred choice if the time is limited.
4.Huanzhu Cave includes Shanhu Rock, Qianfo Rock and Shijian Stone as well as more than 400 Buddha statues and over 100 pieces of inscriptions, the most precious of which are: the self-portrait of Mi Fu, a well-known calligrapher and painter of the North Song Dynasty (960-1127), and a poem written by the South Song Dynasty (1127-1279) scholar Fan Chengda.
