Although tourism development in Shangri-La is later, the present accomodation condition here is good enough to meet travellers’ demands. Hotels at all price ranges, from budget hotels or guesthouses to luxurious hotles, are available in Shangri-La. Most hotels of this county cluster together around United Road and North Gate Street. The original ancient city of this district has been reconstructed into a place like Lijiang with plentiful hotels and bars.
Star level hotels are the first choice if you want to live in comfort, however, the price maybe higher, ranging from 300 to 1000 yuan. 4 star hotels like Shangri-La MaoYuan Hotel, Shiner Hotel Shangri-La , which are easy to access, can provide a reasonable price. Room rates of these hotels are from 50 to 200 yuan. Nevertheless, the price may rise a little in tourist season, particularly in autumn.
Backpackers often find some nice hostels in Shangri-La, for instance, the Living Hotel, situated in the Center County of ancient city with a Tibetan style , is the first private hotel in Diqing Plateau for foreign guests,the price ranging from 40-80 yuan. Meanwhile, Youth Hostel is not a bad choice in terms of price and the chance to meet tour pals. Located on 98 United Road,Shangri-La Diqing Tibetan Youth Hostel is only 1 km away from Shangri-La Passenger Transportation Center. Room rates are from 25 to 80 yuan.
People travelling around Deqin County can stay at the hotels or guesthouses of this place which offer very reasonable price. Moreover, travellers can also choose the Tibetan hotels in Flying Temple area, paying 25 yuan for one night. Traveller’s Inn and Photographer’s Inn near Flying Temple area generally charge 20 yuan. When you visit Ming Yong Village, you can stay at Ming Yong Mountain Villa which cost 60 yuan for one night.
Tips: In Shangri_la, your can take a shower in most hotels which are equipped with solar heater.As a result, you are suggested to bathe before 6 p.m, for hot water often run out after that time.
