Shangrila Climate

        Shangrila Weather

Shangri-La has long enjoyed a good reputation being known as “the nearest place to heaven” which is the heartland of the Three Parallel Running Rivers Area. This holy town is located on the southeastern edge of Tibetan Plateau which is 3300m above sea level and has no real summer at all due to similar temperatures throughout the year. The year only consists of a wet season and a dry season. The wet season is from June to October which accounts for around 80% rainfall. If the trip is scheduled after October, a coat, gloves and boots will be essential due to the cool weather. Due to Shangri-La’s elevation, strenuous exercise should be avoided as much as possible. Last but not least, Shangri-La is fulfilled with valuable plants which include perfume material plants, rare trees and spectacular flowers which have been around since the olden days.

The best time to go:

May, June, July, September and October are the best times to visit dueto the sky being clear and the temperature is warm. If you are interested in Meili Snow Mountain, October will be considered the best time to visit becauseof its great scenery which goes on foreverwhich definitely shows off in front of you. Generally, the first sunrise after two rainy days in a row is a fantastic view which definitely grabs the eye.
