Laolongtou (Old Dragon's Head)
The Old Dragon Head (Laolongtou) is located 5 km south of the town of Shanhaiguan. It is located in the most eastern tip of the Great Wall, where it meets the sea. Its name is derived from a legendary stone-carved dragon head that used to confront the sea. It is a pity that the former wall has long been destroyed and washed away. The present wall of The Old Dragon Head today is a replica built in the 1980s.

Shanhaiguan Pass
Shanhaiguan Pass is formerly constructed as a fortress in the Ming dynasty. It was used for defence purpose at eastern end of the Great Wall. The Eastern Gate (Zhengyuan lou), a two-storey building with two-roofed tower constructed in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) draws lots of visitors all year round.

Shanhaiguan was built under the supervision of Xu Da, a founding general of the Ming Dynasty when the dynasty had just been established and the remaining force of Yuan Dynasty, driven out of the Great Wall but not resigned to their defeat, always sent cavalrymen to attack Central Plains(Zhong Yuan) . Xu Da made a far-sighted decision to build a pass and garrison troops in this strategic point. He directed over 15,000 soldiers stationing along Mount Yan to build and renovate the Great Wall in Shanhaiguan area and build the pass.

Jiaoshan Great Wall
It is located about 3km away from the Shanhaiguan Pass. The peak of it is 519-meter high, the highest peak to the north of Shanhaiguan Pass. Jiaoshan Mountain starts from Old Dragon Head and goes through Shanhaiguan Pass. It is the first peak of northern Great Wall, therefore noted as "The first mountain of the Great Wall". The dangerous geography of Jiaoshan makes it a dreamland for hikers and photographers. The Great Wall looks like a ribbon hanging in the mountain when viewing in a long distance.
