Confucius Temple in Nanjing city
The Confucius Temple is situated at Gongyuan Street, the northern bank of the Qinhuai River in Nanjing City. It's where people worship the great ancient Chinese philosopher and educator, Confucius. The temple's most outstanding feature is a beautiful collection of 36 jade panels hanging on the walls of the main hall, illustrating the sage's life (551-479 BC). Each panel measures about two meters in height and one meter in width.
There is a temple festival during the Lantern Festival, which is held 15 days after the Lunar New Year, when an array of lanterns in a myriad of colors and sizes are exhibited, which lend a festive air to the temple. Tourists can also visit the snacks street, the old residences in Wuyi lane and the art courtyard, which have enhanced the cultural atmosphere of the temple area.
