Tibetans to Shanghai Expo to enjoy 3 tourist routes

The Tibet Tourism Corporation plans to launch three tourist routes for those visiting the 2010 World Expo, which is set to open in Shanghai on May 1.

According to the schedule, tourists will depart from Lhasa by air before taking magnetic suspension trains to their hotels from the Shanghai Pudong Airport.

After finishing the trip to the expo park on the second day, they will have a one-day tour in Shanghai, including the visit to the city's famous spots such as the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the Bund, and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, as well as doing shopping on the Nanjing Road, known as "China's first business street."

On the fourth day, tourists will visit Shanghai's neighboring city of Hangzhou, capital of Zhangjiang Province. On the sixth day, they will visit Mt. Putuo, one of China's four major Buddhist mountains, or go to the Qiandao Lake featuring hundreds of picturesque small islands.

Visitors can choose the routes, each of which will cost about 5,000 yuan (732 U.S. dollars) per person.

Previously, the company planned to organize 2,500 Tibetan tourists to visit the upcoming Shanghai Expo and a scheduled group of at least 15 members will set off from Lhasa to Shanghai every month before the expo ends at the end of October.
