Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in Daci’en Temple, 4km far from Xi’an. It is said that Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in 652AD by the first Buddhist abbot Tang Xuanzang. Also designed and supervised by Xuanzang, the pagoda was first used to enshrine Sanskrit classic and Buddhist relics which were brought from India by himself. A lot of painting and poems by the emperor were store inside.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda has 7 floors in total. Architecture is traditional Chinese style decorating with some Buddha statues. Tourists can see the whole Xi’an city at the top floor. Recent years it is slightly downward-sloping because of the environment and other issues. It is a landmark of Xi’an City.
