By air
Urumqi Diwopu International Airport is located in the northwest suburb of Urumqi, 16 kilometers away from the urban area. The new terminal is made up by three levels among which the first floor is the entrance, the second floor is the exit and the third floor is for rest. Urumqi Diwopu International Airport is an important hub in western China which contains more than a dozen of airports’ transit mission in Xinjiang. It has currently opened a total of 113 flight routes, including 99 domestic routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Moscow, as well as many international routes to Islamabad, Tashkent, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Islamabad and other cities.
By train
Urumqi Railway Station is the biggest hub in Xinjiang’s railway transportation and it is also an important distribution centre for passengers and cargo between China and central Asia. It currently operates more than 20 trains heading to international and domestic areas.
There are two railway stations in Urumqi which are South Railway Station and West Railway Station. Passenger trains heading to Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Chengdu, and other domestic cities as well as international cities such as Alma-Ata have been opened recently. South Railway Station is located in Qingfeng Road which operates trains heading to Northern Xinjiang and can be accessed by Bus NO. 2, 8, 10, 16, 20, 36, 44, 50, 52, 58, 903, 906, 909, 915. West Railway Station is a departure station which operates trains heading to Southern Xinjiang and can be accessed by Bus NO. 18.
By coach bus
Highways and city roads have been extended in all directions in Urumqi City which has formed a completely convenient inside and outside traffic network. Tourists can take a coach bus in the bus terminals such as Military Bus Station, Nanjiao Bus Station, Mingyuan Bus Station, Beijiao Bus Station and Nianzigou Bus Station to get to their destinations.
