No matter by sea, by air, or by train, tourists will enjoy the journey brought by the modern transportation service system. By air
Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is located northeast of Xiamen Island (one part of Xiamen City), just 10 kilometres away from the city centre. It is China’s fourth largest aviation terminal following Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The airport currently possesses 17 international and regional routes throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, USA and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan. The main foreign cities that leave from this airport are Seoul, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Bangkok and Singapore as the domestic cities including Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hangzhou, and Harbin and so on.
Xiang'an International Airport: preliminary work has been completed and the construction of the airport is expected to start in 2013. It is expected to be finished by 2019.
By train
There is a sea-crossing causeway connecting the mainland and Xiamen Island which makes it possible for trains to get to Xiamen city. Currently, there are passenger trains departing to Beijing, Xiamen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Xi'an, Chongqing and other domestic cities.
Xiamen Railway Station is located at the intersection of Xiahe Road and Hudong Road and number of buses can get there including NO.16, 18, 21, 25, 26, 28, 37. If you walk west along the Xiahe Road after leaving the railway station, you can reach the Gulangyu Island Dock.

Xiamen Port is a natural excellent harbor in south China with deep port water and low waves. Besides the routes bound for the coastal line from the inside province, there are many other routes bound for the southern cities of China, such as Shantou, Guangzhou, Hainan Island as well as northern cities such as Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, and Yantai. There are also passenger liners that go back and forth between Hong Kong and Xiamen every week. The route to Hong Kong is every Wednesday at 5 pm and the route to Xiamen is every Tuesday at 2 pm. Liners depart from Xiamen Peace Pier to Taiwan Kinmen Shuitou Pier are also available and it takes about 40 minutes.
By Cruise

Tourists that cruise from Xiamen to Gulangyu Pier are a main mean of transport for the journey to Gulangyu Island. Service time is from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm and the travel time is about 8 to 10 minutes. There are other short-range cruises to Jimei, Haicang, Shima and other places, if bad weather occurs the cruises will be suspended.
