By air
Harbin Taiping International Airport is approximately 30 km from Harbin’s City centre. It is the second largest international airport in north-east China, where domestic and international large passenger aircrafts land here. There are daily flights to 47 tourist cities which range from medium to large sized cities; this includes Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Dalian, Xi'an, Hong Kong, etc. Regular flights to Russia, South Korea, Japan and other countries also take off from this airport.
Buses depart from the airport to the city centre every half an hour and the journey will take about 40-60 minutes. Also you can take a taxi from the airport terminal of Taiping International Airport to the city centre. There are two stations for passengers to take the airport shuttle bus in Harbin City; they are the Civil Aviation Building, 99 Zhongshan Road and No. 30 Xinyang Road. Buses at Zhongshan Road depart only if the bus is full, so you have to wait for a relatively long time. Bear in mind that tourists are advised to get there 2-3 hours before their departure and the last bus runs at 18:00. As to the Xinyang Road Station, there are only two buses which depart from here; the departure time is respectively 10:30 and 12:00.
By train
Harbin has the second largest railway hub in north-east China which only ranks after Shenyang City. There are five major railway lines that converge here; they are Jingha, Binsui, Binzhou, Binbei, and Labin. There are not only routes heading to cities in Heilongjiang Province and northeast China, but also routes to major tourist cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hankou, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Yantai. Meanwhile, many lines of high-speed trains have been put into operation to other cities in Heilongjiang Province which have greatly assisted the transportation in the area. There are two main railway stations in Harbin and they are Harbin Railway Station and Harbin East Railway Station.
By ship
Harbin Port is one of the eight major inland ports in China, as well as the largest inland port in north-east China. There are water transportation routes throughout the Songhua River, Heilongjiang, Wusuli River and Nenjiang River which are interlinked with Russia and other ports in the Far East. At present, ships depart from Harbin Port and they can go directly to Japan, North Korea, South Korea and parts of Southeast Asia area. Due to the weather in different seasons, the ferry port starts to operate in April and ends sailing in early November every year.
By bus
The bus system of Harbin City is very well developed. Existing public transit lines extending in all directions with a total of more than one hundred lines brings a lot of convenience to citizens. These lines mainly include the bus lines, public tram lines and intermodal transport. In addition exclusive lines have also been opened for tourists to go see attractions around the city.
