Planes
Wuhan airport, also called Tianhe International Airport, is located in Huangpi District of Wuhan city. Built in 1994, it has now developed to be a primary civil airport in China. With 28 stationed airplanes, domestic flights at Tianhe International Airport are linked with over 50 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hongkong, Sanya and so on. In addition, Tianhe International Airport also enjoys easy access to the center of the city and offers airport shuttle services with stops at main railway stations and shopping centers.
Trains
The railway network of Wuhan offers the most safe, reliable and effective way for passengers to travel around the city or beyond. Wuchang Railway Station and Hankou Railway station are the two largest stations, which have many trains leaving Wuhan for each city in Hubei province everyday. And their routes beyond the province have already covered 21 large and medium-sized cities in China, including Beijing, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Xi’an, Changsha, Guangzhou and so on. In addition, there are 70 trains originating in Wuhan and 120 passing by Wuhan everyday.
Coach
Coach in Wuhan is also one of the most common means of transportation. Compared with trains, coach is a good choice for passengers to travel around within or beyond the city in a fast and comfortable way. State Route 107, 316 and 318 all pass by Wuhan. Also there are many other highways which link Wuhan with other adjacent cities, including routes to large and medium-sized cities like Nanjing, Hefei, Changsha and Zhengzhou as well as routes to famous tourist resorts like the Yangtze Gorges, Zhangjiajie, Huang Mountain and Jinggang Mountain.
Ferries
Wuhan has one of the largest terminal ports along the Yangtze River. From the upstream in Shanghai and downstream in Chongqing, there are numerous passenger ships arrive and depart from the port regularly. Recently, due to the slow speed of shipping, the amount of the passengers is decreasing. So it is best to check the schedule in advance.
Urban Transport Network
Wuhan has an urban transport network which consists of rapid subway, buses and taxis. The subway originates at the intersection of Nanjing Road and Xinhua Road and stops at 8 stations. The bus-transit system in Wuhan is composed of three parts, general route buses, special route buses and trams. Also, there are various new tourist routes along the river and to the suburb opened recently, which offers passenger a convenient and economical way to travel around. Taking taxis in Wuhan might be difficult in rush time. In case of uncertainty, it is wise to call a cab beforehand.
