Chengdu is the largest air and land transport junction city in southwestern China. It is the terminus for the Baoji-Chengdu, Chengdu-Kunming, Chengdu-Dazhou, Chengdu-Chongqing Railways which leading to North-West, North-East, South-West, South-East and North China. The National Highways No.318, 317, 108, 212, 213,319 and 321 connect Chengdu with provinces in North-West.

The Chengdu-Chongqing, Chengdu-Mianyang, Chengdu-Leshan, Chengdu-Nanchong Highways and other main roads constitute the transport network in Sichuan province, connecting the main cities, counties and towns. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the 6th busiest airport in China, with a total of 65 lines going to cities both nationwide and worldwide.

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the 4th largest international hub in China, after Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. It has the largest number of flights frying to Lhasa. It 20 km away from downtown city and the airport buses depart every 15 minutes, costing 8 to 10 RMB.
 
Railway Transport
Chengdu is the largest railway junction city in southwestern China. With the Baoji-Chengdu, Chengdu-Chongqing, Chengdu-Dazhou, and Chengdu-Kunming Railways joining here, over 20 big cities nationwide have direct access to Chengdu. Nowadays there are four main train stations, among which the North Marshalling Station is the largest marshalling station in China.
 
Coaches
Chengdu is also the largest expressway hub in southwestern China, with 6 national highways intersecting here. There are such a number of bus stations that even the locals may not know the exact paths to certain places. If you travel here and are confused about your ways, it is suggested to ask the volunteers and policemen for help.

Chengdu Metro

Chengdu is the first city in western China that had constructed subways. At present the No. 1 Line and No. 2 Line have been put into service, making public transport more convenient.

 

Public Buses

The public bus network in Chengdu is highly developed, reaching most places in Chengdu as well as all the tourist attractions in the city. Taking buses to travel in Chengdu is comfortable and convenient. But do remember to avoid going out during rush hours.
