Chengdu Weather

Chengdu has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate. The four seasons are distinct, with abundant rainfall. The annual average temperature ranges from 16 to 18. It is mild and humid, without much sunshine and wind.  The spring comes early every year. Flowers usually blossom just after the Spring Festival. The summer is not very hot in Chengdu, but influenced by Sichuan Basin, it is a little suffocating. Autumn is cool and comfortable, but not as sunnier and warmer as spring. Snow is rare in Chengdu, with 300 frost-free days. In winter, most days are cloudy and overcast even if without rainfalls. The temperature is rarely below 5 in winter months. Rainfall is common year-around but is the greatest in July and August, with very little of it in the cooler months.

The best time to travel in Chengdu is from March to June and from September to November. Although July and August are the hottest months of the year, there are also places suitable for visiting during this time, such as Qingcheng Mountain, Xiling Snow Mountain, Jiulonggou, Jiufeng Mountain, Tiantai Mountain and Longchi Forest Park. They are all perfect summer resorts in Chengdu. Besides, Shanglongchi Forest Park and Xiling Snow Mountain are wonderful places to appreciate snow scenery in South China.
