Overall Satisfaction:
"We enjoyed the trip to China!"
Hi Gary,

Just wanted to let you know how much Jessica and I enjoyed the trip to
China. We enjoyed all of the guides/drivers and found them all well
informed, helpful and accommodating. I'm just sorry for the delay in
leaving Beijing and for not being able to spend a little more time in
Chongqing. It looked like a pretty city and different from the others
we'd visited because it was hilly. Ellie, the guide, also seemed very
nice, and took us to supper before taking us to the boat for the cruise.

All of the museums we visited were excellent, especially the National
Gallery of Art in Beijing. The Great Wall was a favorite site, and I
loved visiting the Jade Buddha Temple and seeing all the monks chanting
in the temple. I wish we had had more time in the French Concession,
for there we discovered unique shops that didn't sell the usual tourist
trinkets. The museums also had excellent gift shops. On our free day
in Beijing, we had fun taking the subway to the antique market and found
interesting things we had not seen elsewhere. Toby, our guide in
Beijing, was very helpful in directing us to a pearl shop where we got
great deals on pearl jewelry

In Beijing, one evening, not far from the hotel, and close to the
Olympic Park, we discovered a park filled with people roller skating,
line dancing, singing and generally enjoying the evening with their
families and friends. I even joined a group of ladies who were line
dancing, and had lots of fun. All the people we met, everyplace we
went, were all very nice, friendly and even though many didn't speak
English, all very helpful. Nearly always we were able to get a message
across about what we wanted, or what we were looking for.

Of course, the highlight of the trip was Ping's wedding, which was an
all-day event starting with firecrackers, two dancing dragons, and
ending with a fabulous display of fireworks. She looked beautiful in
her traditional, red dress.

Thanks again for all you did to make this a memorable trip. Truly an
experience Jessica and I'll be talking about for many years to come.

All the best,
Mary

Hello Tom,

What a nice surprise to have this morning!

We have a lot of very good memories of our trip to China and have told many of our friends about how enjoyable it was and how well organized. Probably the highlight for both Paul and me was visiting the Great Wall, something we have both wanted to do for many years.

I have attached a couple of photos for you. We were watching a TV program called “Hidden China” the other night and saw things we would still like to see – for example the round houses in the tea-province south-west of Shanghai where 10+ families live – so we may also visit again very soon.

We have another holiday to look forward to in September when we will be sailing in the Caribbean with some other friends. It will be nice to be in the sunshine again: after the warmth and sunshine of Yichang and Chongqing, arriving back into England where it is quite cold and wet was a shock.

Trusting that you are happy and well,

Best regards,

Debra

Dear Carol,

While recovering from jet lag we often found ourselves traveling again through China with the many images still floating in our brains.

I had never used China travel depot before and didn't know quite what to expect, but after our initial meeting in Shanghai, I felt we were in good hands. You guides and drivers were always punctual and knowledgeable. Our biggest surprise came when we visited a little known city to us, Chongqing, and found a charming metropolis of 30 million people. Our guide went over and above to show us her city and planned outings she thought we would enjoy. She had never been out of Chongqing but her English was excellent and spoke like a native.

I appreciate your handling of our travel affairs at each city throughout our journey. The hotels were excellent and comfortable. The breakfasts at the hotels were very good and offered a variety of choice. This was an excellent start since not all the offerings at the pre-planned restaurants were very appetizing. Although all the restaurants appeared clean and efficient, they lacked the local flavor and variety of local specialties that we sought. They were operated mainly for tourists and we had better experiences at local restaurants.

I regret we didn't have more time at the Forbidden City. Our guide was anxious to cover everything in the itinerary, but that deserved more time. I also regret not visiting the Ming Tombs which I felt should have been included but not for the lofty sum quoted us. I guess that will be left for our next adventure. The Peking Opera and a Peking Dinner would also have been a good addition to our itinerary.

Thank you for all your help and I hope these comments will help the next visitor. Wishing all the best and pleasant travels in the future.

Regards,

Marianne Pantin
