Jinan Overview
Jinan, capital of Shandong Province, is one of the significant cradles of Chinese civilization and famous for its time-honored history and cultural tradition. In modern times, Jinan was the birthplace of Shandong fork art of chanting, with Beijing and Tianjin as the three most important cities of fork art in northern China. Facing the Yellow River in the north, and Mount Tai in the south, Jinan is renowned for its natural beauty. It is also called Spring City for the seventy two springs, of which Spouting Spring, Black Tiger Spring, Five Dragons’ Pool and Pearl Spring enjoy a good reputation. These springs finally converge and flow into Daming Lake (together with Spouting Spring and Qianfo Mountain are called Jinan’s three major places of interest). All the rare natural advantages thus make Jinan a special and attractive city. In addition, endowed with rich and various products, Jinan is one of the birthplaces of Shandong Cuisine.
