Handicrafts and fruits are the most popular local specialties for gifts. Carpets, knives, clay potteries, jewels and silk and musical instruments are all elaborately made with delicate ethnic decorative patterns. Besides, seasonal fruits like grapes, apples, pears, almonds, plums, cherries, peaches, papayas, pomegranates, figs, and so on are commonly seen in bazaars. Hat is a traditional wearing in Xinjiang. It is known as “Huamao” in Chinese and "duoba" inUighur. The hat is usually decorated with embroidery, silver edging done by hand. It represents not only the rich culture but also long history of Uighurs.

The design of clay potteries reflects their religious belief and cultural heritage while combining the notion of arts of Chinese culture and that of western.The smooth shape and shiny colors win the praise of people.The clay pottery is now non-material cultural heritage of China. It is a good choice to buy one for friends and families.

When bargaining it is polite to respect the religious belief of local people. So it is always good to be polite to the vendors and say “thank you” with right hand putting on your heart.
