The best time to visit Kashgar:
During August and September
Due to its complex terrain, Kashgar features different climates in different seasons. The city of Kashgar, located on a plain, is quite balmy during August and September. Besides, many fruits ripe in this period, making it the best season for tourists.
During two major Muslim festivals
During two major Muslim festivals, namely Id al Fitr (Ramadan, late September on the Moslem calendar.) and Corban Festival (Dec.10th on the Moslem calendar), grand pilgrimage and other grand ceremonies will be held in the Id Kah Mosque. By then, tens of thousands of Muslims will assemble at the square outside Id Kah Mosque, creating a spectacular scene.
Highlights during the season
The Karakul Lake and the Khunjerab Pass
The Karakul Lake offers marvelous landscape. The snow-covered Mount. Muztagata is reflected in the lake, along with the blue sky and white clouds. The lush water plants around attract herds of cattle.
The Khunjerab Pass, as the highest-altitude Pass in the world, erects the boundary monument of China. The unfavorable climate shortens its opening time the days between May and October.
Fruits
Kashgar is a high-yielding place for fruits which ripe exactly during August and September. This season will provide utmost satisfaction to tourists’ appetite.
