Chengdu International Peach Flower Festival
The annual Chengdu International Peach Festival opened on March 16 and feature events highlighting the auto industry and a series of activities for wedding celebrations.
Under the influence of the recent temperature increase, some peach flowers in Chengdu have begun blossoming earlier than in previous years.
More than 150,000 people went to see the peach flowers on Mt. Long Quan on March 13, the main spot for viewing them, which is 20 kilometers east of the southwestern hub of Chengdu city, capital of Sichuan Province.
A series of pastoral-themed events will be held at the festival, including a vegetable-picking contest, strawberry-picking contest and Hakka kite festival. In addition, a traditional British outdoor game called Rabbit Run will be played onstage at Long Quan.
Peach flowers have always been loved by Chinese people because they symbolize love and a good life in traditional culture. From March 18 to early April, events featuring love songs, pink valentines and wedding celebrations will be held in the sea of peach flowers on Mt. Long Quan.
