Following the May Day holiday, summer has suddenly descended on Beijing. Due to this year's lingering cold spring, many flowers have bloomed later than usual, so it is still possible to catch the last blooms of spring around the capital. Here we recommend a list of places with exhibitions or festivals that focus on different flowers, so you can plan a nice late-spring visit before the weather gets too hot.

Highlight: Visitors can walk in the open air and enjoy flowers, fly a kite, or learn about Tomb Sweeping Day culture and poems. A free guide is offered to student groups visiting the ruins of the European-style palaces.
Miyun District, Mt. Yunmeng National Forest Park Rhododendron Festival
Time: till May 30
Highlight: The Rhododendron festival is being held in the park, and tree planting is underway from April to August.
Miyun District, Mt. Yunfeng Taiwan Local Delicacy Festival
Time: till May 30
Highlight: Chefs from Taiwan are invited to come and prepare an array of cakes, rice noodles and local delicacies. The special tea ceremony of the Hakka people can also be enjoyed at the festival.

The 3rd China Huailai Chinese Flowing Crabapple Flower Festival

Highlight: Xiao Nan Xin Bao Township of Huailai County is a renowned home of the Chinese Flowing Crabapple flower. It boasts the biggest Flowing Crabapple garden in China. Thousands of flowers bloom around May every year, attracting many visitors.

Mt. Miaofeng Rose Valley Roses
Time: from early June to early July
Highlight: The rose valley located at the foot of Mt. Miaofeng scenic spot has a history of over 400 years. The roses are famous for their large size, fragrant scent and high oil content.
