Beijing Ski Resorts increasing their game and food offerings

While prices are on par with those in last year, more varieties of ski equipments and food are offered at major ski resorts in and around Beijing, the Beijing News reports.

Most ski resorts, including Jundushan Ski Resort, Nanshan Ski Village, and Shijinglong Ski Resort opened in early December, with Lianhuashan Ski Resort and Yuyang Ski Resort still in test operations.

Promotional prices have been introduced to attract tourists. Yuyang Ski Resort offers free service to visitors who come before December 11 and Lianhuashan Ski Resort offers free ski gear to visitors who come before December 10. Tourists can get discounts by booking ski tickets online, according to the Beijing News.

As snowboarding gains popularity in Beijing, several ski resorts, such as Huabei Ski Resort and Yuyang Ski Resort, have set up separate areas especially for snowboarding enthusiasts. Snowboarding has become more and more popular among Beijing's young people, Luo Xiaohui, the marketing manager of Yuyang Ski Resorts, explained.

Various other winter activities like skating and ice sledging also have also found their place at these ski resorts.

Besides facilities and equipment, food varieties have also increased in some resorts. Western-style food is offered at Jundushan Ski Resort and dishes indigenous to the Yanqing district are prepared at Shijinglong Ski Resort.

However, due to the warm weather this winter, only primary and mid level ski slopes are open in most of the resorts.
