The amount of international routes from Chengdu has reached 70

Chengdu, which is located in southwest inland, is trying to draw near the distances with the world by building
a aviation hub. According to statistics, by Oct 2013, Chengdu has opened 70 international routes (including 32 direct periodical international routes), 61 international destinations and 104 domestic destinations.
Since this year, Chengdu has added 4 direct international routes, including
Melbourne, Frankfort, Doha and London. Besides Doha, the others are the first direct routes in the Midwest.
In Jun next year, the direct route from Chengdu to San Francisco will be opened, too. By then, Chengdu will become the first Midwest and the forth inland city which opens direct route to USA. Since 1st Nov, United Airlines has started to presale the tickets from Chengdu to San Francisco.
It is said by Chengdu Logistics Office that besides San Francisco route, Chengdu might also open the direct international routes to Moscow, Paris, Istanbul and Dubai next year.
An officer of Chengdu Shuangliu Airport said that Shuangliu Airport had turned gaze to the other side of the world ---- Africa. The development of Africa route will be one of the focal points in next year.
It is reported that the direct periodical international routes from Chengdu would exceed 36 by 2015, which would form an international routes network connects the major cities in Europe, America, Australia and Asia.
With increasing development of airline network, Chengdu is turning into an international city and exchanges more and more frequently. On 28th Oct, the annual entry and exit passenger flow volume of Chengdu Airport exceeded 2 millions. It is expected to reach 2.3 millions this year and keep ranking first in the Midwest.
Since 1st Sep 2013, Chengdu has become the first city in Midwest which implements the 72 hours visa-free transit policy. According to the report from Chengdu Business, there have been 245 world top 500 enterprises settling in Chengdu by the end of October. Last year, this number has exceeded Guangzhou and ranked third in China.
